Center for Career and Professional Development
A team of career educators dedicated to the development and implementation of programs and services designed to promote lifelong career management skills for students and alumni.
We collaborate with students, faculty, alumni, university colleagues and employers to build partnerships that enhance career development and generate career-based experiential education and employment opportunities for students and alumni.
Great résumés are not created at the end of senior year; they are built over four years with the skill development, hands-on experience and career knowledge that comes from choosing the right courses, part-time and summer jobs, internships, community service, and extracurricular activities. Our career counselors are available to advise students on their many choices as they build a résumé throughout their years in college. The Center has current information about campus and off-campus part-time employment, seasonal employment and volunteer opportunities. Workshops are offered regularly in résumé writing and interview skills, which prepare our graduating students for the job search. Our recruitment programs, job fairs, online job search service Handshake and database bring students in contact with a wide variety of employers.
Our services continue to be available to all alumni as they consider changing careers or prepare for advancements in their current careers.
Residential Life and Housing: A Safe Return to Campus
Make Adelphi your “home away from home.” Our integrated academic and co-curricular educational environment helps all our residents grow intellectually and socially —with safety procedures that put wellness first.
With careful planning led by public health experts, Adelphi’s residence halls are ready to open and welcome students. With reduced capacity, enhanced cleaning, touchless temperature scanners, mask-wearing protocols and other wellness measures, we can house students in seven clean and safe residence halls. All About Life in an Adelphi Residence Hall
Each residence hall is supervised by a full-time, professional Assistant Director (AD) who is committed professionally and personally to the concept of the residence hall as a center of learning. The AD lives and works in the hall throughout the year and supervises a staff of trained graduate and undergraduate resident assistants (RAs).
In addition, each building has hall attendants who confirm each resident is wearing their mask and has completed their daily AU2Go Health Check before they may enter the building during evening and late-night hours.
Every year, the residents of each building elect a hall council. Through the Resident Student Association, these hall councils manage an activities budget, provide social and educational programs for residents, suggest additional policies that complement those established by the University and communicate student concerns to the Office of Residential Life and Housing.
As you learn and grow at Adelphi—in our labs, our classrooms, our playing fields, our residence halls or our performance stages—we are dedicated to making your experience safe, healthy and successful. Whether you attend Adelphi as a student, or are part of our faculty and staff, your physical and emotional health, wellness and safety are our top priorities.
