These universities include Loughborough University, University of Bath, Lancaster University and University of Bristol. Technology in the classroom
Bellerbys practices blended learning, using online resources to supplement our lessons. ELearning gives students access to materials before their lessons, so class time can be reserved for discussion and debate. Students have access to a Virtual Learning Environment, a web-based learning platform for submitting homework, online testing and tracking progress. Bellerbys encourages students to take control of their learning experience.

Bellerbys College dates back to 1959, with the opening of Davies College in Hove. We take our name from one of Davies College’s former principals, Robin Bellerby. Ever since its creation, the College has helped to prepare students for university in the UK.
Bellerbys spans sixty years of university preparation across two specialist Colleges in Brighton and London. Today, Bellerbys College is home to students from more than sixty countries.

Learning at Bellerbys is about more than what happens in the classroom. Our exciting enrichment programmes help you learn more about the subjects you love. Enrichment helps students develop skills that impress employers and universities.
Our programmes cover a wide range of subjects, so there’s something for everyone. Your enrichment experience could involve classes, trips and competitions.
Enrichment activities are a great way to show enthusiasm for your chosen subjects. These opportunities are available to all students and vary from college to college, but some previous activities have included:
Senior Maths Challenge
Recommended for students hoping to attend Oxbridge, this challenge allows students to prove their mathematical skills in a competitive exam setting.
Biology Olympiad
Students with an interest in biology can expand their knowledge with this specialised activity. Future medical students will find this interesting.
CISI Corporate Finance Certificate
The CISI tests students finance skills by giving them the opportunity to invest in virtual shares whilst learning about the industry. Students can also gain extra UCAS points through the course.
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a way to gain new skills, meet friends and enhance your CV. During the award you complete volunteering with a charity, a range of activities and an expedition trip. It is highly regarded by universities and employers as develops your confidence and team building skills, preparing you for life and work. There are three levels to the award – Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Physics Science Live
A lecture event which in the past has included talks on everything from particle physics to the idea of free will.
Debate Club
Students develop an understanding of real world issues whilst improving their language skills and preparing for university interviews.
Critical Thinking Society
Designed to build confidence in the English language, students can develop independent thinking skills and prepare for university interviews whilst exploring recent news stories.
Business Enterprise
Students have the chance to set up their own business and create a product, marketing strategy and business plan.
Visits to the Amex Football Stadium
Not only have our students visited the American Express Football Stadium in Brighton, but they also had the opportunity to ask questions about the running of the business.
Tours of the Houses of Parliament
Our students can enjoy a variety of trips across the United Kingdom which help them understand British history and culture.
Doctor’s Surgery
Future medical students gain practical experience, including treating and examining patients.
ARTiculation Prize
Students develop their presentation and research skills in this public speaking competition based on art. As well as being great for students planning on studying an art-based degree, the competition is also useful for those interviewing at high ranking universities.
ILM Leadership & Management Award
Business students gain practical skills including leadership and management abilities.
IELTS English Speaking Club
A drop-in club that exists to help students prepare for the IELTS speaking test.
Students improve their computer skills by learning how to code, create programmes and generate animations.

Building Futures
UK universities look for students with a passion for their subject and social interests. By taking part in events outside of your studies you can build on your existing skills. You can also develop new interests to increase your chances of getting a place at a great UK university.
Student development
Building Futures is a charity founded by our parent company, Study Group. With the help of students, it supports communities in developing regions. The projects provide educational materials and resources. Since 2005, our fundraising has helped nine communities worldwide. We encourage our students to get involved with fundraising. Activities have included sponsored walks, fancy dress days, concerts, football tournaments and cake sales.
Building Futures has raised over £800,000 for projects since 2005.
Our projects
Our first project begin in Indonesia in 2005. Since then we have fundraised for a number of communities around the world, contributing to the delivery of facilities such as new classrooms, a principal’s office and a storeroom for children to use. The money we raised has also helped to train teachers and improve the standard of teaching in over 66 villages. If you’re staying at McMillan Student Village, and you’re under 18, you’ll have your own single room located within a shared apartment. Each apartment has a small common area for you to relax in and meet up with classmates.

Explore Greenwich
Greenwich is located on the banks of the River Thames. You can take boat trips or ride on the Emirates Air Line (cable car) for fantastic city views surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Just a short walk from the College is Royal Museums Greenwich, set within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can see the Royal Observatory Greenwich and discover maritime history with the Cutty Sark ship and National Maritime Museum.
Food and restaurants
London has great food and amazing markets. You will never run out of restaurants and cafés to spend time in. Borough Market is near London Bridge and you’ll find fresh produce and live cooking demonstrations. Closer to the College, Greenwich Market is open daily with delicious food stalls, as well as fashion, crafts and antiques.
Places of worship
London is a multicultural city with a variety of places of worship. In Greenwich, you will find a mosque, Catholic and Anglican churches, a Buddhist centre, an Islamic centre, a synagogue, a Hindu temple and a Gurdwara.
Music
London is a popular destination for musicians to play. There are a range of small and large venues across the city, so you’re sure to find a musician you like playing at some point. Large venues such as The O2, Wembley Arena, Brixton Academy and the Royal Albert Hall attract famous acts from around the world. There are also outdoor venues across the city, such as Hyde Park, Hampton Court Palace and Finsbury Park – perfect places for a summer festival.
Museums and galleries
Many of London’s world-class museums are free to visit. Marvel at the natural world in the Natural History Museum or take in the Science Museum in South Kensington. Around the corner, the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) is famous for its extensive art and design collection. You can see human history through the ages at the British Museum or wander the extensive art galleries of the Tate Britain and Tate Modern.
Getting around
You can walk, cycle, or take a bus or the tube to anywhere in the city. Hiring a bike is simple and affordable with the London bikeshare scheme. You can pick up and drop off a bike at areas across central London.
The College is in Greenwich with excellent transport links to the city centre and beyond. The nearest train stations are Deptford and Greenwich.
London is home to many teams across many sports. Football is the most popular spectator sport in London, with many of England’s leading teams based here. The UK’s national football stadium, Wembley Stadium, is located in north-west London and is the home of many high-profile games. London has also hosted the Summer Olympics three times – the only city in the world to do so.
University rankings are a good place to start when you are choosing your university. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings features 1,000 top universities in the world. It reviews excellence in key areas, including research, international outlook and knowledge transfer.
