Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University is one of the oldest and leading universities in Russia and it is well–known all over the world. It is located in the biggest city of Russia – Moscow. The university was the first in the world to establish the first Paediatric faculty in 1930 which served as a model for creation of such faculties in other universities all over the world. The world’s first faculty of Biomedicine was opened in Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University in 1964. The University provides training for medical workers in fields like Biochemistry, Biophysics and Cybernetics.

The faculty graduates work not only in Russia, but also in numerous countries, including ones belonging to the European Union and the United States. There are numerous graduate and postgraduate programs to study: General Medicine, Paediatrics, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Biophysics, Medical Cybernetics, Clinical Psychology, Social work, Dentistry and Pharmacy. After acquiring basic education, students are free to continue education by engaging in clinical residency and postgraduate studies.

More than 2000 lecturers working in 115 departments offer lectures, seminars and practical laboratory sessions in sciences in more than 250 courses. The university has established a network of biggest Moscow state clinical hospitals which service hundreds of thousands of people with various pathologies. ABOUT MOSCOW

Moscow is the capital of Russia. It is the largest city in the country and one of the largest cities in the world, with more than 13 million people living there. Every day about one million people come to Moscow from all over the world. Moscow was founded more than 800 years ago by Yuri Dolgoruki. The capital is situated on the banks of the Moscow River. It is the main political, economical and cultural centre of Russia. Moscow is a city of highly developed industries. It has numerous modern enterprises, including engineering and metalworking plants. They produce machine tools, motor cars, transformers, electric motors, TV sets, watches, and others. Moscow is also a centre of the chemical industry. Moscow can be rightfully called a city of students. There is a large number of schools, gymnasiums, colleges, institutes and universities in the city. Moscow is a very beautiful city with huge green parks, large squares and wide streets, making it a very attractive city for everyone.

Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University has 7 faculties. The RNRMU departments are Faculties of Therapeutics, Paediatrics, Medico-biological Faculty, International Faculty, Faculties of Dentistry, Pharmaceutics and Psycho-Social Faculty.

Housing services

Hostels at Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University are newly renovated and furnished. Hostels have all necessities like Wi–Fi, kitchens, bathrooms, washing rooms and laundry rooms, which altogether provides a comfortable environment. The students of RNRMU are provided with rooms for two to three people, and every student gets a bed, a mattress, a pillow, a blanket, a desk, chairs and other necessary bedding. The hostels are well-heated, located in close proximity to the university and are well-guarded, so there is no need to worry about one’s safety.

Library services

Currently, assets of the library comprise over 750 thousand items. This year alone various library attendants were issued 1 061 586 books. Over the last 15 years, the Department of Library Technologies has been backed up by two bibliographical databases of Medicine and Dentistry, which contain information going back to 1989. This year it is intended to increase computing stock up to 80–100 items to provide the attendants with better information service.

Student life

Campus life

Students take active part in research work. Student scientific society has been functioning in the University since 1932. Student scientific society of Russian National Research Medical University organizes an international Pirogov conference related to medical research on an annual basis. The conference, which started in 1996, gives an opportunity for students and young scientists from different cities and countries to build strong relationships for scientific exchanges, contribute to development of medicine, present their own scientific projects and discover new methods of treatment and diagnostics.

Sports facilities

Students have an opportunity to train in a modern sports facility. Everyone has an option to choose the sports that they prefer due to a large variety of sporting activities – football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, swimming and others. Annually the students of the University participate in more than 100 different competitions. For many decades the University has housed national and world champions in many areas of sport.
