about University of Law
Overview
What really sets us apart from other universities is the guiding principle that future lawyers and business leaders should learn in a realistic, professional and contemporary context, with plenty of practical interactive engagement. That’s why we keep our contact hours high and our teaching groups small.
History
We are the largest provider of legal education in the UK (HESA 2020/21). We can trace our origins to 1876 with the formation of tutorial firm Gibson & Weldon, and in 2016, we opened our leading Business School. With a rich heritage and a reputation for innovation and contemporary teaching practices, we continuously focus on developing the best legal and business minds.
Education
All of our courses – from our undergraduate law degrees to our diverse range of business courses and postgraduate programmes – are designed with a unique, varied and innovative learning approach proven to deliver self-reliant professionals who can compete in the fast changing professional world. With a focus on developing skills in problem-solving, weighing up arguments, critical thinking and commercial awareness, our courses are designed to prepare you for the real-life challenges of the working world.
Career
We offer a range of support and many opportunities to help get your career off to the best start possible and enabling you to achieve your career and work experience goals.

We have careers consultants including professional careers advisers, qualified lawyers and legal recruiters, who will draw on their combined experience to provide you with the specialist advice and guidance you need.
Our pro bono experts are all qualified solicitors with current practising certificates who work with other legal practitioners to provide you with hands-on experience of the profession.
We have a programme of activities and career support designed to help you at every step of the way towards a successful career. You can access our employability and career support even before you start your course.

Study at one of our 15 locations across the UK, online, or internationally in Hong Kong and Berlin. All campuses are well-equipped, and are close to thriving commercial hubs, leading law firms and transport links.
All of our campuses are close to thriving commercial areas and offer fully-resourced facilities, including well equipped IT suites, comprehensive libraries with the texts, e-books and e-journals in law, business and legal skills, as well as the latest legal texts. We also have quiet study areas, collaborative workspaces and places to relax whilst you’re on campus. In addition, our students have access to our online learning resource ELITE. WiFi is available across our campuses.
Our campuses aim to recreate the professional, modern environments of top law firms and businesses. We even have a mock courtroom at our Leeds campus and a crime scene suite at our London Bloomsbury campus which provides that extra touch of realism for our students. They all benefit from great transport links, making them ideal for both full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as for qualified lawyers attending our professional training courses.
