If you enjoy working with colour and materials as well as researching and innovating then our BA (Hons) Textiles degree course at UCA Epsom is a dynamic and timely choice as consumer appetite for sustainably made products continues to rise.
There are three main subjects to our course in sustainable textiles – Material Making/Bio-fabrication, Eco Dye, Print and Surface, and Constructed Textiles – all of which have the thread of sustainability, colour and materials running through them. We’re one of the few courses to teach natural, sustainable, dyes, too.
There will an emphasis on sustainable digital production and both digital and analogue illustration techniques, which will enable you to visualise and communicate your textile ideas to diverse international markets.
And, being at UCA Epsom, you’ll rub shoulders with fashion and business students for exciting collaborative projects and networking opportunities. You will be introduced to industry fabricators, sourcing from sustainable suppliers and designing smartly with regenerative purpose.
Our graduates have gone on to work for Burberry, Paul Smith, Jaeger, Zoffany, David Linley, Primark, Alexander McQueen, Asos, Anthropologie, John Lewis, Sanderson and the Royal Opera House, while others have set up their own businesses and become designer-makers, textile artists, academics, researchers, production managers to name but a few.
Please note – this course was previously BA (Hons) Textile Design at UCA Farnham. If you already have credits from another university, or if you have work experience to an equivalent level, you can apply to enter directly into year 2 of the course at UCA Farnham.
