Things are a bit different, but we are still the same warm and friendly people we always were.
The new term is a form of blended learning with large group learning such as lectures delivered online and small group activity such as tutorials delivered face-to-face on campus in line with social distancing guidance in place at the time.
We’ve worked hard behind the scenes on a range of changes to our buildings and operating systems to help keep you safe.
At Abertay, we’re proud of our students and graduates, and we believe there’s no better place to study if you’re looking for a degree that helps you become an exceptional candidate in an increasingly competitive job market.
You could be spending up to 4 years with us so it’s important you have all the facts. Have a read through 99 Things to See and Do in Dundee and use it to help navigate the city. These recommendations are from the people who live here and love it – including us.
Five Reasons to Choose Abertay
Scotland is a very welcoming country, we’re genuinely happy to see newcomers and make them feel at home. Our supportive communities are made up of people from all over the world, meaning Scotland is now home to over 150 languages.
Why study your degree here? In a survey by the Scottish government, 94% of international students said Scotland was a good place to be, and 86% of Scottish students would recommend it to others. And at least 21% of students in Scottish universities are from outside the country, so we really know how to make you feel welcome.
About Scottish Degrees
Scottish undergraduate degrees include four years of study in order to give you a broader and more flexible education. In years 1 and 2 you will study some fairly broad modules, related t0 your subject area. In years 3 and 4 your study becomes completely focussed on the subject area. For example, if you take Ethical Hacking, in the first two years you will study computing, programming and software development. Then in the last 2 years, you will focus solely on Ethical Hacking. This means that even if you know exactly what you want to do, you add more to your education. All of this is designed to make your skills and in-depth knowledge more attractive to employers, giving you the best start to your career.
Scoftish Degrees are recognised globally
Scotland is a small country but it is mighty when it comes to education. We have invested in education for centuries, which means no matter where you choose to live, your Scottish degree will be recognised. Whatever kind of degree you study, and wherever you work afterwards, tt’s reassuring to know that your degree will be highly valued. And in the case of Abertay’s games degrees, your degree will be froma world-leading games school.
We will make you employable
Graduates from Scottish institutions enjoy an average starting salary of £22,000: the highest in the UK. AND more than 85 % of Scottish employers stated that they were very satisfied with the work readiness of graduates from our universities. Abertay degrees are vocational. Which means the skills and knowledge you learn are created in partnership with industry. So we know what they want and we know exactly how to teach it. Whatever you do afterwards, you will be work- ready and able to seize employment opportunities from the very start.
Whatever you’re studying, we can help you develop your skills in different aspects of degree-level work. Advice and guidance is available not just from your course tutors, but also from the Learning Development Advisors, Academic Librarians and IT Trainers.

We recognise the importance of providing our students with the type of networked computing environment they can expect to work in after graduating. A programme of continual improvement ensures that both hardware and software are the latest industry standard, providing our students with one of the best common ICT platforms of any UK university
Although we have an impressive 800 student PCs, we also appreciate that students increasingly need access to networked information resources anytime and from anywhere. We provide students with secure access, both on and off-campus, to coursework, electronic teaching and learning materials, exam results, timetables and a variety of other information and services, much of which is personalised. Our wireless network is available throughout the campus enabling mobile access to resources from a wide range of personal devices.
University staff are continually developing innovative ways of using technology to support teaching and learning through our virtual learning environment, including e-portfolios, podcasts, streaming media and online discussion groups and quizzes. In our physical classrooms and laboratories, a number of classrooms now offer interactive technology to improve the overall learning experience for students and staff.
Janet Roaming Service (eduroam)
The JANET Roaming Service (JRS, also known as eduroam) is a free wireless Internet service that allows users from any participating institution (mostly in UK higher education) to log on at any other participating institution using their home credentials such as username and password.
Eduroam separates the network connection from authentication. You gain access through the wireless network where you are, but must be authorised by your home institution. The local network equipment passes your username and password through to your home institution which can choose to accept or reject them.
JRS guest network services will offer the following access to services:
