Biochemistry with Professional Studies MSci
The MSci in Biochemistry with Professional Studies enables students to gain an extensive understanding of the concepts and theories relating to Biochemistry and the application of a range of practical laboratory skills. Students will explore the relevant analytical principles and techniques, and apply these in a research setting. You will understand collation, quantitative analysis and interpretation of experimental data, and the ability to problem solve.

The Biochemistry degree at Queen’s University Belfast, investigates the structures, functions and biological roles of molecules involved in metabolism, cell signalling and the transmission of genetic information. Research-led teaching and the opportunity to complete an integrated Master programme, help prepare our students for a career in biochemical research.
Throughout Stages 1 and 2 of the MSci Biochemistry with Professional Studies degree, practical classes in Biochemistry reinforce and complement the theory, providing students with the solid foundation on which to build upon for Stages 3 and 4.
MSci Biochemistry with Professional Studies students can transfer to the MSci Biochemistry programme if they wish to take a shorter work placement or no work placement and may choose or be required to transfer to the same named BSc degree pathways.
Only one is required
The application procedure varies for undergraduate and postgraduate students, so we publish separate information for each. You’ll also need to be able to provide evidence of a specified level of ability in the English language.
The following qualifications will be considered for direct entry to our undergraduate programmes:
- The Certificate of General Secondary Education with 80% plus successful completion of a recognised Foundation programme.
- Applicants who have successfully completed at least one year of university study in Egypt with good grades will be considered on a case by case basis.
- A Levels.
- Between 30 and 36 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB). Information on required grades.
